Heading to Ayutthaya

After a few days we left ‘Tak’ province to the center of Thailand, Ayutthaya, which is the former capital of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. You really should visit this city, it’s a city rich of historical monuments and parks.

We were ready for more than a 7-hours-trip by bus. We watched some movies, listened to some music and talked a lot about Thailand’s past (history). Jack and I were visiting this city for 2 days. Next time we will stay a bit longer. This year we didn’t have enough time, but we still enjoyed the little time there.

The first day started with the visit of different temples. ‘Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon’ is the first one we visited. I cannot compare this temple to any other temple. The Chedi ‘the beautiful roof of the temple’ is quiet similar to other temples, what is the difference I am talking about?

‘Wat Yai Chain Mongkhon’ is a site in the middle of the city, which brings nature, modernism and historical aspects together. The contrast of height, color and seize is just an amazing mix. You have small Chedi’s, bigger Chedi’s, small and big Buddha images. There is even a huge Buddha around the central Chedi.

I have to say that it is a very touristic site/place so that’s maybe a dissadvantage for some people. I would maybe recommend you to visit it in the early morning when it’s opening. There will be a lot of people too, but less than in the afternoon.

I added a lot of pictures to this posts because I really wanted to show you how beautiful it is.
